Our (Negative) Role in History
A new study by British Petroleum indicates that the worlds oil reserves will be diminished within 40 years at the current consumption rate. The truth is that these types of reports have been coming out for years now with the first estimates published in the 1980's predicting we should run out of oil during the forty years from them meaning sometime around 2020. Every few years a new research comes out pushing this judgment date ahead by a few years. I think it is safe to assume the same will be true this time and we will be consuming fuel even after 2050. But the interesting point worth noting is this: regardless of the true date in which our oil deposits should diminish, whether in 40 years or 100 years, think about the following. It took our earth millions upon millions of years to create this oil and here came human beings and burned the whole thing up in just a few dozen years. Think about your part, while each one of us consumes only a tiny portion of the worlds fuel usage, when you look at a truly historic scale – each one of us actually has a major role (and not necessarily a positive one).
