Staying Comfortable During Your Flight
The pressure that builds up in your ears as the airplane ascends and descends can be relieved by chewing a gum, yawning or sucking on hard candies. A decongestant or nasal spray prescribed by the doctor and used before boarding can likewise relieve the pressure when you have a cold.
Whenever it is safe to do so, light stretching exercises on your seat or a frequent walk through the cabin will minimize the stress of sitting for hours, especially for a long trip. Drinking plenty of water while on board the plane helps to avoid dehydration during the flight. It is possible that the relatively low humidity in the cabin can make allergy or asthma symptoms worse thus necessary preventive measures can be taken. Let yourself relax to enjoy the flight as it is after all a part of your trip.
