When you think about Australia, the cities of Sydney and Melbourne come to mind.  However, there is Brisbane to think about as a great tourist destination.  The large river Brisbane flows through the city and most of the attractions are loacted on the river.  If you are lucky, you will be able to see sharks swimming in the river.  It is not advisable to swim in the river on the way back to your hotel in Brisbane, so don't be tempted, even if you have drunk too much Aussie beer and sang too many Aussie drinking songs.

Most of the attractions are in the centre of the city, so book a hotel in Brisbane which is not far away.  You will be landing at the Brisbane International Airport and although there are shuttles, you can also take a taxi.  Most Aussie taxi drivers are very nice and will not cheat you.  Instead, they will try to sell you their tourist services for the next day.  If you get a good price, go for it. 

If you don't take a taxi tour, go to your nearest tourist information centre.  They are extremely helpful and will guide you in the right direction.  Although Australians can be a bit rogh around the edges, they are very very friendly and will invite you to join them in their merriment.  Don't pass up the opportunity to join in the fun!
