I got my yearly notice from my insurance agent that it's time to renew the policy on my motor insurance. This is fairly standard and I don't normally pay much attention to it but for some reason I decided to take a look at last years policy just out of curiosity. I must tell you, I was shocked! My policy went up by over 25%. The thing that bugged me was that my insurance agent didn't bother pointing out the price increase to me and simply sent me the higher policy. I'm not so much upset that the policy was raised as much as the fact that my agent just tried to slip it by me. I am aware that car insurance policies are on the rise now, but I think he should have given some notice.

In any case, it actually turned out for the best. Because of this whole situation I went online and began comparing quotes. Within minutes I found several quotes that were lower even than what I was paying until now. I guess it serves me right though that I haven't compared prices online until now. There are many resources online with great information for car insurance as well as tools to help you compare quotes to find the best and cheapest policy for your car.
