Oh, That BMW…

May 31st, 2007

There’s nothing new about auctions on the internet but the auction I’m about to tell you about is definitely not like anything you’ve seen before. While most (or actually all) auctions go to the person with the highest bid, this new auction system offered by bid4prizes.com flipped the system by granting the prize to the bidder with the lowest bid.

Sounds kooky? It is! But it is fun as hell too. The idea is to try and bid the lowest unique bid. As soon as two people bid the same sum that sum is disqualified. I have my eye on the shiny BMW currently offered on the site, it would sure be a nice substitute to my old pal Ford…

U.S. Open Returning to Oakmont

May 31st, 2007

Don’t forget the U.S. Open Golf Championship will be taking place in the Oakmont country club on June 11th through June 17th. This is the eighth return for the U.S. Open Golf Championship at the country club setting a record for the club.

The fact that the U.S Open Golf Championship chose this location for its eighth return is not surprising as the Oakmont country club is considered to be one of the nation’s most challenging golf courses. The club boasts 13 national championships that have been attended at the club since its launch.

No One is Immune

May 31st, 2007

One thing I have learned over the years is that you can’t take anything for granted. This may sound funny to you, but I think I had a real revelation when I finally realized that a drug addiction is not only a problem that “drug addicts” suffer from. I don’t mean that when you have a drug addiction you are not a drug addict, rather I was referring to the term in its derogatory form.

I used to think that the society I live in was immune to these types of problems. But the truth is that no one is immune. It may begin as a “only” a pain killer addiction or maybe you “only” suffer from an alcohol problem but let me let you in on a secret – we are no different from all those “drug addicts” and we too need help sometimes.

There are ways to make sure we receive the best help just as we require the best for ourselves year round. Thankfully our country has the best treatment centers in the world. Places like Sunset Malibu provide help for individuals and families seeking refuge from the pain of alcoholism or drug abuse and allows them to find sanctuary at their time of need.

It Serves Me Right

May 31st, 2007

I got my yearly notice from my insurance agent that it’s time to renew the policy on my motor insurance. This is fairly standard and I don’t normally pay much attention to it but for some reason I decided to take a look at last years policy just out of curiosity. I must tell you, I was shocked! My policy went up by over 25%. The thing that bugged me was that my insurance agent didn’t bother pointing out the price increase to me and simply sent me the higher policy. I’m not so much upset that the policy was raised as much as the fact that my agent just tried to slip it by me. I am aware that car insurance policies are on the rise now, but I think he should have given some notice.

In any case, it actually turned out for the best. Because of this whole situation I went online and began comparing quotes. Within minutes I found several quotes that were lower even than what I was paying until now. I guess it serves me right though that I haven’t compared prices online until now. There are many resources online with great information for car insurance as well as tools to help you compare quotes to find the best and cheapest policy for your car.

Is The Tiger Finally Getting Tired?

May 30th, 2007

CNN published a piece on Tiger Woods’s busy lifestyle and the fact that it may be taking its toll. While Tiger Woods has only played seven out of twenty one possible events this year, CNN claims this may actually have been Tiger Woods’s busiest year of his life. With a new baby on the way, maybe it is time for Woods to consider lowering his pace a bit and focusing on the more challenging career still ahead of him – raising his family.
